Pumpkin Patch Proof Outfit for Fall

Fall Date

Hello Babes,

Today I am trying something a little different on PYM. I wanted to share an outfit idea with all of you. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve shared a fashion post with you, and I wanted to test it out again. So, if you like this style post and would like to see more fashion/style posts from me, please let me know!

My blog started on fashion, and I still love dressing up and skimming Vogue magazines. I just have found more passion and engagement in writing about real life stuff. I always strive to share authentic topics and stories with you gals. However, I’m happy to bring back the fashion piece if I see enough push back.

This outfit is super simple and easy for almost anyone to put together.

Fall Outfit

American Eagle Boyfriend Flannel // American Eagle Dark Wash Jeans // Boutique Booties // Tart Hat // Assorted Kate Spade Bracelets

My boyfriend, David, and I visited a local farm last Saturday to pick pumpkins. We got donuts, picked out our massive pumpkins, took fun photos and then carved the pumpkins. The weather was perfect, and this outfit was very versatile for the day.

This outfit can easily be to put together from any closet. You can make it your own with different accessories. I paired mine with this cute grey hat! Depending on the weather, a chunky blanket scarf may be suitable.

The secret to my outfit is that it does not have to be name brand. I prefer American Eagle denim but you can wear your favorite pair of jeans with this outfit. A flannel can be bought at any store you please, even a resale shop. Don’t limit yourself to high priced fashion items, it’s all about how you style something that matters.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and if you would like to see more fashion post, please let me know. Thank you for reading today!

5 Books Every Girl Needs to Read

Hello Cuties,

Over the past few months, I have been working on building my personal library. I’ve never been much of a book worm, but I’ve found books to be really inspiring and helpful throughout my college career. There are so many books out there that can offer you almost any information you seek.

In our society today, knowledge is key. Therefore, reading opens many doors and provides you with valuable knowledge on life, career building and loving yourself.

Since I’ve been on a reading kick lately, I wanted to share five of my favorite books. I believe every young girl should read these before starting their career or just to keep them around the house. They are all inspiring and motivating, in my opinion.

Big Magic | Elizabeth Gilbert

Big Magic is about learning how to live your most creative life. Gilbert discusses how to incorporate creating living into your everyday activities. I’m still in the process of reading this one, but so far I love it. It makes you realize how to add creativity to all parts of your life. I think as we grow up, we forget about how important it is to be creative and let our expression flow. This book is a reminder of how to do so!

You Are a Badass | Jen Sincero

You Are a Badass is a really inspiring book that motivates you to care less about certain things and live your best life. One of my favorite parts of this book is that at the end of almost every chapter, one of the steps to follow is “love yourself”. I love that this is highlighted so much because the first step to living up to your full potential is loving yourself.

Leave Your Mark | Aliza Licht

I read this book my freshmen year of college, and it really set a positive tone for pursuing my dream career. This book has fun, sassy undertone from the author Aliza, former DKNY PR Girl. It not only shares her journey from the medical field to the high-fashion world, but it also covers all the tips you want to know to for pursuing a career in a competitive industry, like fashion.

The Sun & Her Flowers | Rupi Kaur

This book is not one you read all the way through at one time. I see this book as a resource you refer to when you need inspiration or words of affirmation. This a poetry book written by the magnificent Rupi Kaur. Her other book, Milk + Honey, is also highly praised. I have not purchased this one yet but I plan to in the future. I will share one of the passages from this book below.

#Girlboss | Sophia Amoruso

Lastly, a classic favorite of mine, #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso. After reading this book, I was completely inspired by the tone and message behind Sophia Amoruso and her story to success. I also enjoyed the fashion piece in this book. From the story of Nasty Gal and her attitude towards life, it’s something all girls need to read. It’s sassy, fun and empowering!

These are just a few of the books that have really motivated me and inspired many of my goals, career and personal. I utilize these books as tools, I keep them on my shelf as a reference. I read them whenever I need a little pick-me-up. Perk: Most of these books are around $10!

What books do you love + recommend?

Please share below in the comments or on social media with #PYMbooks. I’m always on the hunt for a new book! Thanks for reading PYM today, see you next time.

10 Affirmations for Monday

Hello Cuties,

I hope you all had a weekend filled with fun and relaxation. Monday is here, and that means a whole new week to accomplish your goals. Mondays can be long, but they also can be super productive!

As time ticks on, the pressure to start looking for jobs post graduation weighs on my mind. I’m sitting here saying, “what do I wanna be when I grow up?” By this time next year, I will be off into the real world, hopefully doing something I’m passionate about. But, right now, this pressure is causing me some anxiety. I’m too concerned with planning every moment, rather than just riding the waves.

I think a lot of students experience this pressure as they inch closer to graduation. It’s totally normal. I’ve been so busy with school stuff that I couldn’t even create a post last week. It’s killing my creative vibes. So, here I sit wondering what I should share with all of you. I decided to share affirmations. Not only for your use, but for mine also.

Monday is the start of a fresh week. A week you have complete control of. If you are student, take a deep breath and read the affirmations below. If you’re not in school, these still apply. Understand that whatever you are working toward, or even struggling through, will all work out.

10 Affirmations for Monday

I am enough.

I give up freely what is no longer serving me, I release it to make space for what inspires me.

I am creating a life of passion and purpose.

I am worthy of greatness.

I choose to be happy.

Today, I will take one step closer to my goals.

My creativity is a true expression of who I am.

My dreams are much greater than my fears.

All of my problems have a solution.

I am confident.

Ahhh…do you feel ready to tackle the week now?

You can write these affirmations down and read them off as needed. You can also write them on sticky notes and spread them around your home or office. Whatever it takes to keep you inspired and determined.

I understand more than anyone what it’s like to worry too much about the future. But, reading affirmations and quotes like these, calms my soul. Although I love a plan, I do truly believe in every thing working out. In the moment, it can be difficult to understand this but once you are able to take a step back you will see everything is okay. Tackle the big things first, then move through the small ones.

We all feel the pressure of life from time to time. Just don’t forget to breath and see the positives. Trust the process.

Thank you for reading Pretty, Young & Motivated. Make every action intentional this week!

Women Empowering Women

Hello Pretty People,

The other morning I attended a Women’s Leadership breakfast where a panel of accomplished women spoke on various topics. It was a very inspiring talk and it really resonated with me. The way these women took on difficult challenges to get in the positions they are in today was completely motivating.

As I listened and discussed with the women around me, I immediately thought of Pretty, Young & Motivated. I created this blog to empower other women. I want my writing to be a tool for you. A place you come when you need to be inspired and motivated. My passion is inspiring other women to realize their full potential.

During this breakfast, we discussed what leadership means to each of us. I think being a leader means you chose to be vulnerable. To be a leader, you must be willing to take the first step, even when it’s scary or uncomfortable. Leaders are the people who make everyone else comfortable. Leaders set examples, they are role models for a group or community. Leaders also empower others. They do not compete and they do not judge.

Real Talk

Ladies…I know we tend to be a little judgmental from time to time. Our society has taught us to compete with one another rather than empower each other. I know we feel like we have to compete with each other but guess what? If another female accomplishes something, that does not mean you cannot do the same. It may just not be the right timing for you. If you see a beautiful girl, that does not lessen your beauty.

Flowers are beautiful, but so are sunsets and they are nothing alike.

Remember this. Flowers don’t stop growing just because the flower next to them is taller. Everyone is on their own journey and we all will experience different things in life.

The Point

Don’t compete with other women. You are still great. We are all great in our own ways. At this point of time, women need to stand together. As we move into the future, we are filling more leadership roles and defying traditions. Be who you want to be and take what is yours. Competing with other women will not benefit you or them. It really just defeats the process of creating more opportunities for women.

We rise together!

Females are strong, beautiful creatures. We are passionate and we listen to our hearts. Although this can be seen as sensitive by some, I believe following your heart creates more intentional actions. Passion will create more than plans ever will.

So, take initiative to be a leader for those around you. Men and women. Stand up for what you believe in. Women have enough critics, so offer compliments instead. Compliment their strength or bravery. Focus on the qualities of people. If we respect one another, it will set an example for others to do the same.

As females, it’s our job to stand up for one another. Together we are stronger.

21 Ways to Show Self-Love

Hello Happy Souls,

Yesterday was my 21st birthday, and it was such an amazing birthday weekend. I’m so thankful for the people around me and for all the warm regards I received. My heart is so full! I’m looking forward to what this year brings.

I didn’t really have too much time to just sit down and write a post for you all this weekend, but I had to share something with my lovely readers. To celebrate my birthday, I wanted to share a list of self-love tips that I think are super important, even if it’s not your b-day. Birthdays are fun, hey? You get a day of royal treatment and it leaves you feeling great. Why not live everyday feeling like a queen!?

21 ways to show some self-love:

  1. Smile. It helps, even if you are feeling down.
  2. Eat well. Fill your body with good energy boosting foods.
  3. Accept who you are. Don’t try to be anyone else, just love who you are.
  4. Drink water. Take care of your health + skin with a few cups of H2O.
  5. Understand you are enough. No matter how others perceive you, you’re amazing.
  6. Use essential oils. Lavender is my favorite to use for calming.
  7. Write yourself positive notes. I keep these in my agenda + on my mirror.
  8. Surround yourself with happy people. Happy people = Positive vibes
  9. Journal your feelings. Sometimes it feels good to write it out.
  10. Take a bath. Light a candle + just relax your soul.
  11. Celebrate small wins. Everything counts, the small wins add up to big wins in the end.
  12. Be patient. Everything will work out, just wait.
  13. Do something you love. Spend time on things that bring you joy.
  14. Exercise. Get active, it helps relieve stress and release endorphins.
  15. Make time for yourself. It’s important to spend time with yourself.
  16. Don’t compare. This is a game you’ll never win.
  17. Buy yourself a fancy drink. A smoothie, a pressed-juice, a latte, anything!
  18. Find your happy place. A place you can be yourself and clear your head.
  19. Let go of negativity. It only holds you back from greatness.
  20. Find something to be grateful for. Everyday.
  21. Forgive yourself. Don’t hold on to bad feelings, move on.

I hope these small tips remind you that everyday should feel like your birthday. You are amazing and important. Taking care of yourself is imperative to living a happy and healthy life. If you cannot love yourself, it will be hard for others to love you too.

Everyone is different. We see the world differently, we see beauty differently. So, why hold our own standards to those of society? We’re all just making it through our own life, worry less about trying to please others and more about doing things that brings you happiness. People and opportunities will fall into place once you allow yourself to live to your full potential.

It’s a new week to be great. Happy Monday!
